DAVE'S WINDING ROAD

The following is for hardcore archivists of obscure musical ensembles only.

The Measure was a new wave/pop band from Evanston, IL. The lineup was:

Dennis.: Bass

Rodney.: Drums

Naomi: Vocals

Dave:  Guitars and keyboards

Appearing as needed was Pat on guitar and synthesizer. Also with the band at various times were Eric on guitar Sharon preceding Naomi on vocals.

The Measure's catalog:Originals by Dennis: Positive Twist, Jet Dreams, Love’s Labors Lost, Words of Nostradamus, New Directions, Under Control, This Season’s Love, The Spring and the Fall, Plastic (I and II). Lyrics on The Spring and the Fall were by Edna St. Vincent Millay. There was also one performance of the regrettable and written-to-disgust "Dead Babies", during which Kim's dolls were thrown into the audience.

Originals by Dave: Eastern Breezes

Cover Songs: Sister Europe (The Psychedelic Furs); Virginia Plain (Roxy Music); Titanic Reaction (999); Talk Talk (The Vapors); I Believe (Buzzcocks)

As a side note, Rodney and Pat had success with their own lineup known as The Seismic Waves. For more on the Waves, see the indie film "You Weren't There: A History of Chicago Punk 1977 - 1984"

Concurrently during the existence of The Measure, Dave also composed tracks as class projects in the Electronic Music Lab at Evanston Township High School.  He won an Illinois Music Educators Association award for Avant Garde / Electronic composition for one of them.

Anomie

Dave’s (mostly) one-man band Anomie completed the cassette-only collection “Hints of Heaven” in Madison, WI. Other musicians appearing on various tracks on “Hints of Heaven” include Rodney on drums, plus  Ann and Jeni on vocals. On the off-chance that any of these cassettes still exist, please contact us at intercitynotime@gmail.com for a small cash reward for their return.  We consider it a stock buyback program. During this period, Dave rehearsed with Peter of Ivory Library on drums. This was to be the beginning of Anomie as a full band, but a finished lineup did not materialize.

Bash and Sex Girl Patrol

(Latter band title: a sketch from The Kids In The Hall) These were two semi-related lineups with Dave as a member, usually as guitarist and occasional bassist, existing in Seattle, WA. As anyone with much band experience knows, despite what was some good material, sometimes these arrangements do not end gracefully.

Intercity No Time

I.N.T. - your current locale. Three of the four songs slated for the upcoming EP are reworked tracks from the original Measure catalog, and one from the Anomie catalog. Y'know, just to get our feet wet, and to serve as our homage to Buzzcocks' Spiral Scratch.  See our title page for current status.
